LIFE: Everyone will be called upon to lead – few will be ready.

LIFE by Chris Brady and Orrin WoodwardEveryone will be called upon to lead at some point (and truly several points) in their lives, the only question is: Will they be ready?

The LIFE business launched with the purpose of providing world-class leadership materials to business executives, entrepreneurs, corporate climbers, pastors, church leaders, administrators, community service leaders, public servants, teachers, parents, and anybody who will find themselves in a position to lead.  My friend and co-author Orrin Woodward (one of the world’s Top 25 leadership gurus) recently said, “When it gets right down to it, leadership is for everyone. Nobody will be able to make their way through life without needing the draw upon the toolbox of leadership.”  Sadly, many people lack these tools and therefore get to live with the consequences of being ill-equipped. These consequences include missed opportunities, unfulfilled career aspirations, financial woes, and broken relationships.

Although leadership is for everyone, not everyone will equip themselves. Therefore, it may be helpful to consider a list of people for which the LIFE materials don’t apply.  LIFE leadership training materials are NOT for those who:

1. Refuse to take 100% personal responsibility for their results in life.

2. Would rather fix blame than fix problems.

3. Want an easy, comfortable life without having to earn it.

4. Already know everything and are therefore unteachable.

5. Have character issues they refuse to address.

People who fit these descriptions need not apply.  Again, to quote Orrin Woodward, “LIFE is for those who earnestly seek a better life, are interested in the strenuous process of personal growth, are driven to succeed in significant ways, and are committed to a life of excellence for a higher purpose.”

Mediocrity is for the many.

Leadership is for the few.

Everyone will be called upon to lead – few will be ready.

LIFE is for those few.

  1. You are such a blessing to us. Thank you for all your wisdom.

  2. Great post. You see people display one or all of those five issues on a daily basis. I try to watch for any of those issues as they try and creep into my thoughts or actions. It takes constant vigilance but fortunately when I mess up God and my lovely bride are full of grace.
    God Bless and Lead On.

  3. Hello Chris.
There are so many broken relationships, and broken finances all around us. Really broken people. But yet, we pray that God will use us and use the LIFE system of thinking to help that healing that needs to take place. Every person we meet has a story…most don’t stop and listen long enough to notice.

Thanks for taking the heat for so long and now turnin’ up the heat on helping people, one person at a time! Even my 6 year old wants to choose which leadership cd to put in the player.

Thanks again, to you & Terri and the Woodwards for your unending courage and dedication to having a life of significance and of serving the Lord Jesus.

  5. This is an awesome article to share with the new prospect when they ask, ” Now exactly what is LIFE?”, at least it worked last night to move a couple off the fence.
    Thanks for sharing this.

Great list to not only filter with, but to do some self-evaluation with as well! May we be found ready!

  13. I love it! This is the way off the hamster wheel and to live a life of excllence and not complacency. Way to tell it Chris

  14. Chris, You hit the nail on the head my friend! I was just thinking of this last night, how the road to leadership is often narrow and untraveled, strew with the tomatoes thrown from the road of mediocrity next door. Whether I have been successful at walking it or not has been defined within your words here. Thankyou for straightening my spine a little and reinvigorating my conviction that I am following the right set of methods. It is difficult to be alone sometimes in the search for quality and excellence, but words like these make the efforts a bit more bearable. The understanding pat on the shoulder you provide to people is a grace that is much needed today. Thanks again,
    Michael
